About Us
Ink in Tubes is a tiny, part-time hobby operation started simply to share, with other letterpress printers, ink from too-large cans. Small quantities of ink (usually 5-oz. tubes) are much more economical for most printers, especially in colors not often needed; and putting the ink in tubes rather than cans or other containers makes it much more convenient to use, as there is virtually no skinning (of oil-base ink) thus drastically reducing wasted ink. Most of the ink is oil-base, and is available in metallics and fluorescents as well as Pantone basics and many, many premixed Pantone colors. Ink tube labels and boxes are all printed, letterpress of course, from handset type, on an uncommon century-old Multigraph rotary press; and each label on each tube of ink is printed with the color of ink in the tube, so the printed label shows what color you might expect using your own press.
